2 p.m.

April 2026 Meeting of the Greene County Historical Society will be held at the Feed Store Beer Co., 750 W Main St., Bloomfield, Indiana 47424.  Owner Steve Corbin will be discussing the history of the building, along with time frames of ownership, building usage, and modifications to the building over the years.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

VOLUNTEER! BE A HISTORIAN!

You too can become an active historian by volunteering to participate in one of our many committees collecting and preserving our Greene County history. This is a memorable year in which we celebrate our 250 years of freedom, and there is much we can do.

Your Historical Society has taken the lead in obtaining, framing, and hanging a portrait of General Nathanael Greene in the Greene County Courthouse. This will be the first time there has been a recognition of the valor of our county’s namesake.

There is more to do. You can choose to serve on one of the committees being formed to collect and preserve our local history. Do you want to help erect a historical highway sign to help the public know of nearby historic sites, such as the Wabash and Erie Canal that flows from Worthington to Newberry? People from all over the mid-west come to Greene County to find the still visible canal, but there is no historical marker commemorating the canal. Do you want to help research, record, and distribute histories of our coal mines? Or our black communities? Do you want to help preserve the histories of our Civil War regiments and the volunteers from our county? Do we want a Greene County Hall of Fame? There are many committees being formed to help us preserve our history, but we need your help. We need you to step up and volunteer. You too can be a historian!
